Present were Captain Todd Rowell of the Mesa County Sheriff's Office, Jim of Ohr Shalom, and Che of the Islamic Center (also Treasurer of GVIN).   Your response is requested - we are in a problem-solving stage, and planning action. Summary: The Mesa County Sheriff's Office requires volunteers to assist in crime prevention measures, that will hopefully impact both short-term and long-term trends in crime. Captain Rowell will provide specific tasks for which volunteers are required, and will work with GVIN to organize (in advance) work days for specific projects that require volunteers. These individual and group projects are ideal for both congregations and individual congregants looking to make a difference in the community, and will have IMMEDIATE and LASTING impact. We hope you will join us on Monday June 12 at 12:00 downtown at the City hall's monument courtyard to honor and remember the lives lost at the Pulse Night Club shooting. Rev. Jeffrey Dodson will lead the tolling of the 49 bells and a short pastoral prayer. Our bells have traditionally rung at moments of crisis alerting us of a community need. They toll after death and they toll when we celebrate. We are invited to ring our church bells 49 times at noon on June 12th to honor the victims of the Pulse Orlando shooting. http://www.49bells.org/
